Carol Woods (Saturday, April 14th) Discussion: Need to control number of trains on track, superintendent has responsibility to control. Suggestion: Write thank you note to venue.
Upcoming Train Shows (use links for details and to register for the events)

  • Spring Neuse River Valley (Saturday, May 5th) T-TRAK, Todd Shoffeitt Superintendent
    NOTE: Participants are asked to register online on the show page (link below). Click on the blue Registration tab and follow the instructions. Discussion: Set up Friday May 4th, 3 pm. Paul Ohegyi and Joel McCurry responsible for trailer hauling. A request was made for extra modules. Jr Engineer Station would be used. Access to exhibit hall 7 am, Sat. Show hours 9 am-4 pm
  • NC Transport Museum Show (Saturday, May 12th) T-TRAK – Joel McCurry Superintendent
    NOTE: Participants are asked to register online on the show page (link below). Click on the blue Registration tab and follow the instructions.  Discussion: Location in the Back Shops. Set up Saturday at 7 am Show hours 9 am-5 pm. Please register and/or notify Joel of attendees. Track plans will be finalized by: John Wallis, Todd Shoffeitt, and Joel McCurry
  • Johnson City – NTRAK - commitment to attend will be made. Superintendent: David Koss. Discussion: At this time several folks are planning on attending. May 31st - June 2nd Possible Thursday set up. Show Fri noon-4 pm, Sat 9 am-4 pm
  • Duke Ronald McDonald House Train Show, T-TRAK Sunday (June 10th), 1:00 – 5:00 Bob McConnell Superintendent.
    NOTE: Participants are asked to register online on the show page (link below). Click on the blue Registration tab and follow the instructions. Discussion: Announcement flyers posted at RMH. Call for modules was made. Details to be finalized by June 6th meeting.
  • Windsor Point, N-TRAK show. Motion and approval to attend this showing. Paul Ohegyi and John Wallis will be Co-coordinators. Set up on a Friday. Dates not yet finalized, two up for consideration. July 14-15th (1st choice), 21-22nd (2nd choice)

  • Call for meeting sites and programs for June and onward – Gerry Foster Discussed need for programs and meeting hosts. Joel McCurry will host June meeting. Ballasting will be the program topic, Todd Shoffeitt will be the instructor. Demonstration and practice for both N-Trak and T-Trak. Members bring track and materials in which to practice. Program for July 11th meeting will be JMRI, John Wallis will be the instructor. Other potential program topics include; water and bridges.

Announcements/Information (no action required at the meeting)

  • 4th Sunday Trains and cookout on May 27 – Todd Shoffeitt is inviting all to his house for train running 1-4 pm, with a cookout to following. Significant others invited. Please let Todd know if you will attend. Grilling meats provided. Bring covered dish and drinks as desired.

Old Business (Todd Shoffeitt)

  • Groups.IO report from committee. Groups IO committee has not met as yet. Discussed Yahoo groups. Committee needs to make a recommendation by next meeting.
  • Updates to trailer interior  – Paul Ohegyi Discussed:

    • First aid kit purchased, needs to be installed in trailer.
    • Cart for moving equipment
    • Pics or diagram of how trailer is packed
    • Nothing should be placed on floor
    • Reminder to use bins
  • Storage Unit Interior revamp – further discussion and set date for work - Todd Shoffeitt
  • DCC Education and Training committee – Discussion: Curriculum needs to be developed, John Wallis has a start on this. Sly Glass and David Koss will assist. JULY target for scheduling DCC training.

New Business (Todd Shoffeitt) (requires discussion, action and/or vote at the meeting)

  • Need training of more Jr Engineer operators. Gerry Foster, Sly Glass, Booby McConnell and Todd Shoffeitt charged with developing a training program
  • Chris Thompson asked to work on Hangouts for improved utilization and member knowledge and compliance. Training to be developed.
  • Potential online Swap Meets, discussed Rick Dellafave and ideas for better ways to find available parts and items desired by members.
