2017 Bluefield - Show Report

Joe and Art take a break from running trains for a quick pic cnJoe & Art

Three members of  North Raleigh Model Railroad Club (NRMRC) trekked to Bluefield, WV to meetup with the fine fellows of the Lynchburg Area N-Scalers  (LANS). We brought Red Rock Junction and Lollipop Farm which were added to the LANS layout.

Setup

After getting a late start at setting up, seems there was a space issue, we had what all the guys felt was a really great and different layout. Thanks to Peter and Tim for their ideas and tweaking.  We had some electrical issues on Saturday, but were fixed and the trains kept running. The was a huge cornfield, ooops I mean a tunnel meet Saturday afternoon in Wimberly Tunnel but two or three wreak crews got the scene cleaned up fast and trains  were back on schedule. Joe Faller got into the 21st century by learning how to run a train on his phone, WiThrottle. Special thanks to Art. Also thank you Mike and Chuck and all the rest of you for putting up with my questions.

Saturday

There was a 7.9 magnitude earthquake later on Saturday. Two or three petroleum hauling tank cars rolled off the layout and exploded. We were all fortunate there was no Lynchburg fire. All the pieces of the cars were found and reassembled at the Ruesen’s.

Saturday night LANS and Raleigh guys had dinner at Portabello’s.

Tim H had a plate of never ending spaghetti.

Sunday

Great bargains were found at Chuck Wiley’s table(s). Even the Ho’ers, Art and Derek found good deals.

Tear down

Tearing down the modules went smooth. Thanks to all who attended and made it fun show.
