2018 Galloway Ridge Show report

2nd Annual Show

The North Raleigh Model Railroad Club held a T-Trak show on February 3, 2018 at the Galloway Ridge Retirement Community, with 13 members in attendance. Set-up began at 8am and was completed at 9:45am, with trains running by the time of the show’s scheduled opening at 10am. The show was well-attended, with both residents and guests of Galloway Ridge as well as the neighboring Fearrington Village community.

Digitrax Wifi

The show gave us an opportunity to test a new Digitrax wi-fi system, and while it initially performed well, problems developed over time as slots were quickly filled to capacity, and we discovered it was difficult to dispatch trains so others could log on to the system. It was determined that the Digitrax set-up was more suitable for smaller shows, and it was replaced with our regular wi-fi set-up. Trains ran smoothly after that.

One notable event was the creation of a new “Domino” award to one of our members whose entire train decided to leave the rails not once, but twice in the same place. The event was recorded for posterity and will be available for viewing at a future date.

Tear Down

Tear-down began at 4pm and was completed by 4:45.
