As we do each year the NRMRC participated in the Train Collectors Association December show at the Scott Building, NC State Fairgrounds. A total of 15 members participated in the show.
The North Raleigh Model Railroad Club completed another successful show with the Neuse River Club this past weekend, November 5&6 2016. This year we resumed display of the Junior Engineer layout in addition to Both the N-TRAK and T-TRAK Layouts.
The NRMRC participated in the 2016 NMRA MER Convention held at the RTP Marriott with a T-TRAK layout featuring Apex. Since our Apex modules are a model of a prototype scene we were in the RPM (Railway Prototype Modelers) room.
Eight members of the NRMRC participated in our 2016 Selma Rail Day T-TRAK layout, which was located in Selma Station.
Based on the available modules our layout was L-shaped and measured 14.5’ x 12’. This was the first time our only layout was T-TRAK, and clearly it is the way we should continue in the future. The lower size is perfect for viewing by younger folks.
The 2016 Danville Old 97 Rail Days was held the weekend of September 23-25 in the Pepsi Building at the Crossing of the Dan in Danville VA. As usual it was sponsored by the clubs of the Eastern N Lines Partnership, with the Richmond Club (RANTRAK) being the layout coordinator. ENL had the full support of the Danville Science Center. There was also a TCA show located in the Community Market. Overall attendance in the Pepsi Building was about 400. There were approximately 40 ENL operators.
The North Raleigh Model Railroad Club along with the Central Carolina N Scalers participated in the Great Train Show in the Exposition Building at the NC State Fairgrounds the weekend of September 17 and 18, 2016.
It's Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 4:07 AM when Joel McCurry arrives with Jim Kalenowski a full 49 minutes ahead of last years departure... I'm not sure how I'm managing to function at this hour but coffee is helping.
The Windsor Point Show was held at the Windsor Point Retirement Community in Fuqua Varina, NC. On June 18-19, 2016. The layout was setup in their Activity Room. The Superintendent was Joel McCurry, and the Digital Master duties shared by Dave Thompson and John Wallis.
Twelve members of NRMRC and 5 members of the Lynchburg Area N Scalers set up a layout in the East Tennessee University Mini-Dome on June 2, with the show open to the public on June 3 and 4, 2016. Our layout was 24” x 66’ in size.
A total of fourteen members participated in the Train Collectors’ Association Train Show held at the Scott Building, NC State Fairgrounds on Saturday and Sunday, April 30 and May 1, 2016 with setup on Friday, Apr 29. Our layout utilized all 8 banquet tables arranged in an E shape. Setup began at 1:30 pm on Friday and was complete for the day at 3:30 pm. Setup resumed at 7:30 am on Saturday with all complete when the show opened to the public.
